Thailand
announce inaugural 6 red
championships

The Thailand Association
in association with it's main
sponsor Sang Som have just
announced that they will be
hosting the inaugural 6 red
snooker championships in Bangkok
during the summer. The
format of this event has already
been tested in the South East
Asian Games and they believe this
is an exciting new development
for snooker.

players will be invited in all
with
Ten to twelve (10-12)
professional players from the
World Snooker Main Tour. The
rest of the field will be made
up of players 8-10 players from
host country Thailand with
representatives from each of the
following countries; Australia,
Bahrain, Cambodia, China, Egypt,
Europe (4-6); Hong Kong, India,
Indonesia; Laos, Malaysia,
Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan,
the Philippines; Qatar,
Singapore, United Arab Emirates
and Vietnam.
Truevision
TV in Thailand have already
committed to broadcast one match
per day along with the semi
finals and final along with Channel
11 also broadcasting the final.

Europe
have already decided to
hold a 6 Red qualifying
competition during the European
Team Championship in Glasgow to
choose four European players
to compete along side the likes
of Jimmy White and many other
pro's at the event at the
five-star Montien
Riverside Hotel in Bangkok
on July 8-13, 2008.
