Liam Highfield won the 8th and final Pontins International Open Series event recently but it wasn't enough to give him a place on the main tour next season. The youngster finished 14th overall in the rankings with the Top 8 all joining the pro ranks next season. 

The youngster produced some superb snooker throughout the event winning seven matches in all to take the title and the substantial prizefund.

The early rounds saw Liam defeat ex-English Champion David Grace 4-1 in the first round before recieveing a by into the Last 32 where he saw off the challenge of ex-pro Gary Wilkinson 4-0 with ease. English International Andy Lee was the next player to fall by the wayside by four frames to two as Liam marched on to the Last 8.
