Three 40+ breaks and a 93 and 98 showed drastically improved form from the Australian but he will have a lot to do tomorrow to get himself back into
the match. McGuire only needs two more frames to see him through to the quarter finals where the winner of Joe Perry and Stuart Bingham awaits.
One of the matches of the round was happening on the other table as Ronnie O'Sullivan and Mark Williams squared up to each other. Ronnie had the best
of the opening session going 5-3 ahead which included the highest break of the championships to date, a superb 140. Today's session saw
Williams claw a couple of frames back early on but breaks of 102 and 78 helped Ronnie
capture the next three frames to lead 9-5. Williams however
gave himself a fighting chance tomorrow by taking the last two frames of the session with breaks of 81 and 73 and we should now have quiet a match on our
hands as play comes to a close tomorrow.
The other two matches of the day saw Stuart Bingham continue to surprise taking a 5-3 lead over Joe Perry while China's Liang Wenbo continues to both
surprise and entertain the crucible crowd with both his antics and superb play and leads Joe Swail 6-2.
