Two
time European Champion Alex Borg
captured the Maltese championship
for a record sixth consecutive time
defeating Simon Zammit in the final 7-3. The event was held in
the St.Joseph Band Club in front of
a large crowd of spectators.
Borg
started the brightest winning the
first frame only for Zammitt to take
a 2-1 lead in the early stages. Borg
then started to show why he was the
champion for the last five years as
he leveled the scores and quickly
went 4-2 up with ease.
Zammit
rallied tasking the 7th frame but
Borg then won the next three frames
on the bounce to take the match and
his sixth title in a row.
Borg
and Zammitt will surely now travel
to Poland in June as Borg aims to
win his third European Championships
in only four years. The 2005 and
2006 champion will be hoping for
victory in this event and a quick
return to the WSA Main Tour should
he be successful.
